I miss holding hands with my eldest son,
walks in the park and other kid fun,
long movie nights or his good foot rub,
fantasy world constructed in the tub.
Reading time, instead of Halo fights,
he even gave up on his ballet nights,
Star Wars now overshadowed by Yu-Gi-Oh,
to local playground he no longer will go.
He’ll wear his hoodie in 100 degrees,
and struggle to earn grades over C’s;
but passes tests with highest of marks,
as if to mock the educational arts.
Still my love’s as strong as very first day
that big-headed bundle was sent my way.
aw I love this tribute to your son...all of your descriptions, highlighting the changes you see in him. Your unconditional love for him is heartwarming.
