TRIGGER

One of the first submarines my dad served aboard was the USS TRIGGER (SS 564) out of Charleston. She was a diesel electric submarine-hunter primarily. I think my dad was first in charge of the engine room. The ship was named after a submarine that was lost with all hands in WWII. Here we have a picture of the boat while on a visit to Italy in 1963, and two shots taken from the periscope, probably by my father. Have no idea where the sunrise/sunset was taken, but the shot of the ship was taken in the Savannah River.

Dad also served aboard the USS Trigger, stationed in Charleston, during the middle 1960s, mostly as an engineering officer and perhaps navigator, I think. Most or all of the pictures come from the US Navy.

The following picture was taken as the ship passed beneath the Cooper River Bridge near Charleston, South Carolina, in the summer of 1963.
