McCARD

Herewith a couple of photographs taken while Dad was serving as a reservist aboard the USS McCard (DD822), based in Tampa, Florida. These shots were taken during a trip to Puerto Rico in April 1979. In the first picture, with his back turned to the viewer, is the commanding officer, Tom Moore. Both men were Lieutenant Commanders, and both made Captain at the same time, in 1983. My dad was navigator on this cruise, one of his better skills in the Navy, and something he was always quite proud of. He mostly served aboard submarines during his active career.
